Loosely based off elements of Filipino mythology.

I insisted on experimenting with colors and shapes while I was sick so this process was unusually frustrating but I think it's one of my favorite pieces now! 💜

PS. Bakunawa is the name for the moon eating serpent in the Visayas and Bicol. Mayari is the name given to the Tagalog moon deity by F. Landa Jocano – Mayari is also a Kapampangan deity. The Tagalog and Kapampangan name for the moon eating serpent is “Laho” and “Lawu” respectively. Similar lore, but different names. Each ethnolinguistic group tends to have their own name for the moon eating behemoth.
